Robot vacuums and mops are a bit of an expensive item and usually have a high price tag. The bundle we've reviewed that includes self-emptying charging bases and mopping pads, retails at more than $700, PS559 / $1054 AUD.

The Shark Mop Vac Robot VACMOP is a vacuum that mops simultaneously, and it does a great job of both tasks. It is a powerful suction unit and mopping pads are the first of their kind disposable. They have an enclosed dirt chamber that can collect dust hair, pet hair, and other particles and four layers of absorption for wet messes. It also features a unique CleanEdge system that uses blasts of air to remove debris around room edges and corners.

The app allows you to create cleaning schedules, no-mop areas and more. It's simple to use and connects to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks, which means you can control it from anywhere in your home. It's not as large as some of the best robot vacuums but its self-emptying function is a wonderful feature.

In vacuum mode in vacuum mode, the VACMOP is a solid performer on hard and carpeted floors. The rotating brush roller on the bottom and the dual spinning edge brushes take in a variety debris including pet hair, toys, and other objects. It is also able to remove its roller brush in order to get rid of hair that is wrapped around it. It is also able to get close to the wall edges and can be set at three levels of power to achieve the best results.

Although it doesn't come with the high-tech laser mapping capabilities some of the best robot vacuums have, the app does give users the ability to map out your home and create no-mop zones for areas where you don't want the robot to vacuum. It's easy to create certain rooms and areas that have high traffic for on-demand deep-cleaning.

It's a little slow to start when you set it to vacuum however once it's moving it will be a breeze. VACMOP is able to take on a lot of ground in a short time. While it's not quite as effective as the top robotic vacuums at cleaning up larger debris like furniture legs or large floor rugs, it's still very efficient in all situations. Plus, its stair-climbing and barrier navigation systems are of the highest quality.

This is an excellent solution for those living in apartments who do not have the space to store traditional mop and vacuum cleaners. It can create a map for your home, and its intelligent application lets you organize cleaning routines.

The Eufy RoboVac is not perfect, despite its low price. It's not able to recognize stairs, and it could be unable to handle carpets with a thick. It's not quite as powerful as high-end models and has a smaller bin. The vacuum does a great job of picking up cat and dog hair, though.

The Shark AI Ultra is an excellent option if you're looking for an effective multi-purpose vacuum cleaner which can also sweep floors. It comes with many of the features you would expect from a more expensive model, such as a navigation system that is user-friendly and a top quality app.

Design

The Shark AI Ultra 2-in-1 is a sleek-looking robot vacuum and mop combo with a large charging base. Even if you don't purchase the bundle with the base, it is still expensive. However, it performs well and has a lot to provide. You can schedule cleanings for each room, or start the process from a distance when you're away. It has a feature which lets it use a grid pattern to clean in a straight lines across the length and width of an area. This will ensure that you get all of the dust and debris.

The base also houses a huge dust bin. It's less likely to fill up before it's time to be emptied. It also features a bag-less design, which is great for saving money on new bags. It's also simple to remove empty it and replace it when you're ready to get an upgrade.

It was a fantastic device that left my floors looking amazing. The mops are powerful enough to make my floors feel soft and luxurious after they're finished. The performance of the vacuum for cleaning vac was as good, or even better than other standalone models that I've used.

Its mapping technology worked very well, too. I used the app for editing the map of my home as well as creating no-go zones, and marking areas as carpeted. Although it took some time to do the mapping, it was accurate and the robot avoided carpeted areas whenever I wanted it to do mopping.

This vacuum had one issue I didn't care for: it couldn't detect obstructions like other robot vacuums. In some instances this was a problem because it was unable to see the edges of carpets. In other instances it was a problem because it didn't stop when it ran into an obstacle and would keep moving. It's not a huge issue however it is something to consider prior to buying this robot.

Performance

Shark's latest robot vacuum is impressive, but it's not perfect. It's costly and takes a long time to charge. Also its performance in cleaning edges is not stellar.

Despite these limitations, the Shark AI 2-in-1 remains a great choice for vacuuming and mopping floors at home. Its intelligent cleaning features powerful suction, as well as an easy-to-use app make it one of the best alternatives in its class.

The robot vacuums easily on hard floors and can handle dust and dirt. The bin onboard holds plenty of debris, and is easy to empty it when it's full. It's also relatively quiet, which is great for those who have family members or friends living with them.

When it comes to mopping the floor, the robot does a great job on bare floors. It is able to remove spills that have dried, scratches on linoleum and tile, and pet hair. It has a three-armed side brush that can draw debris away from the main brushroll. This helps with edge-cleaning.

Its mopping performance is poor in carpets with low pile, and it has trouble with large particles like sand. Its mops also fail to get rid of tough stains and need to be filled manually.

In our tests, the robot was experiencing some issues mapping its home. It could sometimes skip rooms or repeat the same spaces. This was especially problematic on dark floors. It was able, eventually to complete the map. The app also allowed us to set up scheduling, no-mop areas, and other settings. Its LIDAR sensor also assisted it to navigate the home and avoid obstacles with a high degree of precision. This was much better than the navigation system of the less expensive Shark ION Robot RV700 series, which isn't intuitive and does not support no-go zones. The app is simple to use and provides a wide range of smart cleaning modes such as an energy-saving Eco mode and the high-power Max mode. The cost of recurring usage however, can escalate quickly due to additional mopping pads, replacement filters and maintenance costs.
